In November 2023, the National Research Institute of Oncology in Gliwice hosted a conference entitled “Nowotwórczość (Onco-creation) – At the Crossroads of Science and Art.” The event was accompanied by an exhibition of microscopic images of cancer cells. Its purpose was clear and singular – to bring together two worlds: the world of science and the world of art. We believe that this was the day when that dialogue truly began. We invite you to explore the works presented during the first edition of the exhibition in 2023.
Nowotwórczość (Onco-creation) is a space where art and science meet – two realms that seem distant, even incompatible, standing at opposite poles of cognition and experience. Can they truly be brought together? For now, we leave this question open. We hope that the images we have prepared will help you find your own answer. We trust – and deeply believe – that they will.
“Nowotwórczość (Onco-creation) – At the Crossroads of Science and Art” is a space where art and science meet – two realms that seem distant, even incompatible, standing at opposite poles of knowledge and human experience. Can they truly be brought together?
The project and exhibition aim to bring these two worlds closer – the world of art and the world of medicine. By presenting microscopic images of cancer cells as artistic expressions, we seek to offer a new perspective, while communicating and humanising scientific concepts in the field of oncology.
